A bar, a restaurant, an art gallery, and now a place to buy antiques! This is my second time at Bocabar and I'm delighted to write a reivew because i love the place. We arrived quite late and had a really good gourmet pizza and cocktails. And ended up buying a cast iron cow that had been salvaged from somewhere in Somerset! A great experience for a different kind of place. Highly recommended!
My first time in Bristol just before Christmas also brought me to Bocabar. If this place is anything to go by, then I'd happily come back to Bristol (and Bocabar) many times. It's a great space with a laid back yet buzzing atmosphere. We very much enjoyed dinner with a large group of friends at a long table in the dining area, but the large bar space was also great. Definitely a place to have fun at both with larger and smaller groups of friends. I liked the versatility - you could just have a drink, enjoy a smaller bite to eat (didn't have one but the pizzas looked appealing), or go for a full meal.
friendly vibrant place to visit. we have been visiting Bocabar since it opened.we go as a family regularly, as a couple and as a group of friends...sometimes weekly...We have been at breakfast time, lunch time and evenings and find the food excellent. by the law of averages, therefore,we have occassionally experienced a longer than usual wait for food, but have always been offered a free portion or a drink etc.
we have also been interested in and supporting their newly opened art gallery area.
Quite possibly the worst Sunday Roast I have ever experienced, went there Sunday (23/1/2011) paid £12.50 for a Roast Beef Lunch which came out more fat than beef, lukewarm on cold plates and 1 tray of veg between 5. When I complained the waitress she passed on the message to the chef who just said "thats how the beef should be". On complaining to the Manager he said sorry but just did not seem interested in anything I had to say. A truly shocking experience, I will never eat there again and I truly advise you not to either.
I used to go to Bocabar often as its the best bar locally. However. Visited a couple of weeks ago for Sunday lunch with hubby and 2 year old daughter. We ordered the beef roast and paid £12 ish each for adults and around £5 for the childrens version. Shocking is all I can say really. £30 for Sunday lunch (plus the drinks!) for a couple of wafer thin slices of over cooked roast beef, 2 roast potatoes, a yorkshire pud that was like a fairy cake and a small dish of veg to share between the 3 of us! On a plus side the service was surprisingly quick. But miserable! Cant say Im going to bother again. Do you think boca looks at these reviews?
Great place to visit in the evening for a chilled out drink with mates or girlfriend. Tasty pizzas!
