Turned up on spec on a very hot day for a beer in their lovely garden with its duck, guinea fowl and free range chickens foraging about in the grass. Beautiful view over the Chew valley.A glance at the menu suggested this was no ordinary pub and no ordinary grub. We made a chance booking and were served within half an hour. Provencal fish soup the best I have had even in Provence, then confit de canard ( a little over salty); my partner had blue cheese panna cotta, then whole plaice with samphire. She finished with a chocolate cake/mousse the perfection of which it was a shame to interrupt with a fork; the taste sublime-I had to verify. The lot, including a pint and a half of Butcombe bitter, about £40. Frankly, we would have paid a whole lot more. Service fast, friendly and fresh. Mixed bunch of customers, some discerning, some obviously not. This place is great, don't tell anyone.

Very pleasant little Country Pub which was busy on the midweek day we went. Menu sounded excellent but we were let down by the real thing.

None of the separate four starters we had were either sufficient or edible and were returned without any comment from the waiting staff or chef.

The main courses were passable but were no better than your average Bristol restaurant.

Service was good but there was no wish for any feed back from the staff who ignored any adverse comments.

Many of the locals spoke very highly of the cuisine but it may be that it is convenient and local to them.

Not a food venue you would wish to travel too far to get to as much better in nearby Bristol.

The food is great but the service is all over the place.

When we politely complained that the desserts were very late the female manager was quite snooty and we got cat calls back from the chef in the kitchen.

Gordon Ramsey food with Gordon Ramsey attitudes.

I was slighty dissapointed when i came here for dinner with my spouse. A lot of people had reccomended this place and i feel i may have set my expectations too high. The food was very avergae indeed and the service was quite slow.
