Great pub, cheap food which is always excellent quality, the sunday roasts are 2 for £10 and are always brilliant, very hard to complain about this place. Unfortunately on most websites there is a bad review for this place, all by the same person, some people have nothing better to do but to complain and then spend half your life complaining some more about it. I would highly recomment this place, I visit regularly with friends and family and we have never had any complaints, it can get busy on sunday lunch times so book up or go slightly later. (busy pubs usually bring quality otherwise people wouldn't go there and this is certainly a busy pub with great food).

I have just returned from sunday lunch service at the Anchor and it was very disappointing, the dry white wine was smelling and tasting of vinegar and the Thatcher's cider was off. Even the cokes were very heavy in the soda content. The staff didn't know what veg is served with the roast. The actual meal itself was horrid. The meat was very poor quality, overcooked beef for my girlfriend and very fatty pork in brown beef gravy for me. The peas and carrots were soggy. About the only good thing was the yorkshire pudding (which i suspect was out of a packet) and maybe the roast potatoes at a push because I was hungry. All in all a very miserable experience and never will I be seen there again. Takeaway for me now, as I think I have been put off roasts for a while...

The Anchor is ideal for a night out with the lads as there is always loads of us that meet there. Cool place to grab a couple of beers before you head out!
