I was in the Bristol lanes in the evening of Sunday, 8/12/13 to book bowling for a large party. The lanes were empty, 2 female staff were serving 2 couples at the bar. The 3d female staff was wiping bottles, which was clearly more important to her than acknowledging and serving me. The 2 staff then finished serving the 2 couples, but still completely ignored me! They started chatting among themselves and pottering around behind the bar without looking at me or even acknowledging that I was there. The 3d female staff continued wiping bottles! When I asked why I was being ignored, all 3 female staff immediately turned on me, all 3 became very confrontational and aggressive. They raised their voice at me stating that they were serving customers (by then they have finished serving everyone!), and the one that was wiping bottles stated that she had not seen me! All 3 spoke with me in raised tones of voice, and were extremely confrontational. The staff is rude, incompetent and aggressive. Don't waste your money, go somewhere else!
Awful customer service and value for money, we spent £30 on one hour of bowling, lost 15 minutes due to staff error and then complained when our game shut down half way through only for the staff to be rude to us and therefore will not be returning.
Can be a really fun place but the over zealous security guards are really bringing the atmosphere down the pan.
They're acting like they're in Iraq .. . .real shame and needs addressing. I saw numerous people hassled throughout the night just for looking moderately tired or relaxed. Girlfriends of mine were searched on the door in spite of being sober and smartly dressed whilst drunken teens wobbled on by.. . .crazy stuff
The Lanes in Bristol City Centre is pretty awesome! It offers a plethora of options: eating, drinking, bowling, dancing, rocking out to lives bands, etc. I came with a group of 12, for a b-day party. First we great beers drank, then we ate and finished with 2 hours of bowling. Only gripe is no outdoor heaters.
Really love this place! It has bowling, a karaoke room, ace bands and dj's, cheap drinks and the staff are really friendly too!
This is a great place to know in Bristol. I went there first for a work do, but it’s actually much later that the place comes into its own. It’s open until 3am and is much more than a bowling alley. It’s 1950s style decor is really unusual and later on it turns into a real party place, with people dressed up, live bands and great music to dance to. Best of all on a saturday night it only cost £3 to get in, which is fantastic for central Bristol! The people who frequent there are really friendly too.
I came here with a group of people I go to school with and we had a great time. The atmosphere is really great and it was small enough that it wasn’t too loud to socialize. They serve food if you get hungry-we had some nachos that were quite tasty-and it is a really nice way to spend an evening. I recommend this bowling alley for any trendy, hipster types as it is of that persuasion. Really great, fun, good meeting place. There is a bar, a restaurant, the bowling alley and it appeared that there was some sort of theater with a screen upstairs though I’m not sure what that is about. Located on Nelson Street and a little hard to find-though worth the search!
The sister venue of bloomsbury bowling lanes in London, the lanes offers a thoroughly refreshing 'going out' experience, combining 50s style dining, live music from touring acts and locals alike
(I personally saw an amazing electro-pop act called ou est le swimming pool) and ten pin bowling, which is possibly the most fun anyone can have after you've had a few of their tasty continental lagers!
