The four-cheese dish is so cheesy it's too sickly to finish. The diced chicken & onion is so creamy it's inedible. These (and so many other 'chefs') need to learn that not everyone likes either pasta or creamy stuff. At least, if it's creamy, SAY SO on the menu!

One of the best Pizzas in Bristol. As a Pizza fanatic, I don't say this lightly. Delicious and better than anything else around. They do take-away too so definitely worth a go.

An absolutely fabulous restaurant. The staff are so welcoming and seem to adore children and the pizza is as good as when I lived in Italy. Living in Portishead it makes for the perfect local restaurant. T. Richards

His Aubergine Parmigiano is fantastic! The pizza's are the size of dustbin lids and they'll happily swap any incredients if they have them. Staff provide great service and a lot of fun of they think they can get away with it.

The specials are always worth a try and the main menu never disappoints. I am so glad this restaurant is local - I'd happily travel to it.

Great food and atmosphere - what more do you want!

Six of us went to Antonio's yesterday, hungry after a day out on the SS Balmoral. What can I say? It was excellent. A warm, friendly welcome, excellent food, sensitively served at an acceptable price. All the meals are home made, even the bread and pizza dough, by a real Italian family. It's just as if they picked up a little restaurant from Naples or Bologna and dropped it into Portishead.

We visited this restuarant on Saturday evening 4 June 2011 for the 1st time as part of a party of people. We ordered garlic bread and olives, they only had black, for the table and both of these were lovely. For a starter I ordered Calamari Sorrento and main Linguine Marinara. My husband's starter was prawn accompanied by mushroom and chilly in sauce of some kind. His main was Calzone.
The sauce for both my starter and main were the same and for all intents and purposes neither home made nor fresh - incredibly akin to the propriety Ragu sauce one can buy off of a supermarket shelf. Apart from the linguine in this sauce, my main contained shrimps, 6, and mussels, 8, both of which were over cooked. When my husband's starter was brought out, we were asked by the waitress who had ordered the mushrooms? He didn't acknowlege as he didn't recognise the order. The proprietor's wife then came out to clarify and it turned out to be his starter. In fact, the main element of his starter was muchrooms, loads of them, and contained very few over cooked shrimps, not prawns as per the menu. The chilly was undetectable. His calzone was supposed to contain and egg, that was absent too.
Whilst battling with the main, literally just moving the food around the plate, the proprietor came out and looked at my plate, then at me scowling. A little later I decided to get some fresh air before returning to attempt the meal. Upon my return the proprietor was there and asked me whether I'd returned to give the meal another go? Whereupon I indicated no.
This was a special occasion for the friends we were with and propiety dictated that we remain polite & pleasant so as not to spoil their night. I detest throwing good money after bad and this is precisely how we felt - if the prices matched the quality of food we'd feel somewhat different!
NEVER AGAIN! Il Giardino's - Clevedon, Piazza Di Roma - Black Boy Hill and even Botellino's but Antonio's - NO THANK YOU!

The proprietor would have been scowling out of concern for your meal not having been eaten. Antonio is a very gracious man and would have welcomed any concerns you may have had and I am sure would have rectified any mistakes made.

He has scowled over the food I'd not eaten on more than one occasion...only because my plate is too large for my appetite. He likes to please his customers and treats regulars as family.

Please do not be put off by this review, Antonio's is real home made genuine Italian family restaurant and very welcoming to all customers.

I shall be visiting this evening for one of their fantastic 16" take away pizzas!

Always a wonderful evening, with fantastic food, Antonio and Maria are warm and welcoming to all. And if my children are asked where they would like to spend their weekends they always reply antonios. Traditional Italian food from a traditional Italian family. Better than any chain restaurant.

Bit like an Italian transport cafe. Not the best food in town but OK.

Have you ever been in a Italian Transport cafe? and if Antonio's is not the best food in town, would you please suggest somewhere else for the portishead residents, not one of the many pubs that we have though. i think Antonio's has it all. !

Fabulous Italian food. Just like mamma makes! A genuine welcome, delicious food, excellent service. Nothing is too much trouble. Set menu & daily specials with fresh, local ngredients. Perfect for all occasions. I have eaten there with my family, friends, colleagues & even as a couple for a romantic evening. Tony, Maria & their family will welcome you in true Italian style.
