I've been there many time, El Puerto is one of my favourite restaurants. The food is good, waiters and bar staff are friendly. As long as the food is nice I don't expect fast food service, especially when its busy.
But working in catering myself I have one problem with El Puerto, as I got the bill, 10% service charge was added, and it stated that my 'server' was 'manager'. That means the manager get all the extra tips, leaving the hard working staff with only minimum salary. I refused to pay service charge, and tipped my waitress in cash instead.
Please remember to remove service charge and tip your waiter/waitress instead, they need it more then the managers who earn a healthy salary.
Overall a great place. Hope something gets done about it ASAP.
Delicious food, not very friendly service. Went there several times and sometimes had a feeling that I was doing wrong by asking them to serve the customer... And what I don't like the most - they charge 10% "service fee" which is included in your bill, but they won't tell you that, when you want to leave them a tip! This way they end up with 20% or more on tips if you're not aware of "service fee"! I wasn't. Won't go there again.
restaurant was OKish went with a few work colleagues ,but had to wait along time for a table ,seemed like ages so we weren't so hungry when we finally sat down.food was OK ,small amounts of differant foods ,could have been warmer ,puddings ok as we could share them all.Was alittle disappointed at the food and service ,considering the price ,restaurant has fun atmosphere and we had looked forward to it ,but was just too busy and the service slow .would have been better if it wasn't so full
The food here is hit and miss. We had delicious prawn dishes and terrible, tough lamb. El Puerto really fails in it's service. The bar staff barely acknowledge you, the waiting staff take forever to return to your table and in the end we had to go to the bar to settle our bill and try our luck there.
It is also an expensive restaurant which highlights just how poor the service is. A very disappointing experience.
i went here about a week ago for my hen party and what a blast it was! we were all made to feel really welcome and the staff allowed us to decorate our tables to make it extra special. the tapas was extremely tasty and the cocktails too. we had a right blast here and i'd recommend it to many of my friends. you must visit.
I couldn't agree more with the most recent review.
My boyfriend and I stumbled across this perfect find at the weekend. it was so busy and we hadn't booked, yet the staff were all so welcoming and gave us a waiting time of 40minutes. The atmosphere is brilliant and accommodates for both groups and couples as some tables are tucked away and intimate.
We ordered lots of dishes to share and not one lacked flavour or disappointed us, it was all beautiful. We were recommended a great bottle of wine too and the service in general is spot on.
Highly recommend a visit, book up on a Saturday night.. or don't and have a perfect excuse to enjoy a couple of pre-meal drinks and plenty of olives!
I love this restaurant. I have been there about 5 times.
Its atmosphere is very flexible, romantic yet buzzy so ideal with a partner or group of friends.
Food was great, quality products that were very well cooked.
I can only speak as I find but I have always found the service very attentive and friendly. Definitely worth a try.
This is my favourite restaurant in Bristol
The food is not bad here, but I had such a bad experience with service here, I wouldn't go again. The owner offered us a group discount, but then changed his mind when it came to paying the bill, and instead of resolving it like adults he shouted and kept walking away. He then blanked us as we left, even though we'd just given him over £300 of business!!!!Terrible, there's too many other good restaurants in Bristol to put up with that kind of treatment.
