Ok I have mixed feelings over this place.... On the plus side the food is great .... however there are a couple of things which put me off, the staff are way to quick to take your plates off of you it kinda makes you feel that they want you to hurry up. Whilst eating my meal the staff appear to stand and stare at you eating and this also is an off put and is not very comforting. To summerise this restaurant I would say good food but poor service.

Just went to this restuarant for the first time last night! I took my girlfriend there around 7:30 and was surprised with the great choice of food avaliable for only £11:90. The waitress greeted us then kindly asked us whether we have been here before and when we replied she took the time to explain what was on offer. She made sure to mention their food wastage policy, when they charge more if you consistently waste food but we thought this was nessesary so we were fine with it. Saying that I went up 5 times and I made such that I finished everybite just because the food was great! I will definately be coming back and I'm going to tell my friends about this place!

I have been using this buffet restaurant for the past 8 years, I have always had great experiences, the staff have always been very polite and attentive to our needs, we have always been treated with respect and the food is of a very good standard. With regard some of the adverse statements on this site, there is an old saying... you can please some of the people some of the time but not all of the people all of the time.

Having used the Oriental Buffet Restaurant, Hengrove Leisure Park, every saturday since it has been open "usually on the lunch-time", my wife,sister/brother-in-law and myself have always thoroughly enjoyed our meals, the food is always of a very high quality and freshly cooked, often varying the menu,the management and staff do a very good job, can't wait to see you all next sat.

We have been going to this restaurant since it first opened and unfortunately it has gradually gone 'down hill'. The food is generally good quality but on a couple of occasions the restaurant have chosen to close earlier than advertised (I guess because it wasn't that busy) and the staff has got increasingly ruder.

I sent a glass back because I noticed lipstick on it and a glass was returned but my water (which I had paid for) was not replenished. Also a waitress while passing our table decided to pour the water left in the bottle into my glass just so she could clear the bottle. I am capable of pouring my own water if and when I need it!

A SMILE goes a long way and I have felt on more than a few occasions, that we (the customers) are putting the staff out.

The service needs a huge improvement and we have tried other Chinese Buffet restaurants in Bristol which are a lot better.

If the service improves we would be glad to return but until then I am giving the once pleasant restaurant 'a wide berth'

Sorry. The staff are still rude! The most hostile welcome ever! We arrived 13:05 15/01/2010. The waitress indicated 3 to the kitchen. Which meant don't bother to cook any more as it isn't worth it. When we went up there was hardly any food!
I wish we had walked out there and then. Fortunately for me I made do with what rice, noodles and veg was left. Most of the meat was gone.
Unfortunately one of our members ate what meat was left and had a very bad tummy the following day.
The trouble with this lot they are losing trade and making too many cut backs. Yet still expecting a tip.
There used to be plenty of good food but always miserable service. The plates are still snatched from you. Also if you do not add a tip to the ATM that will be snatched from you. ( Why give a tip for bad service !). We've been several times, to give them a fair chance to improve, but never again.
It maybe a different service during the evening but lunch time is definitely a no!
Why is there not a choice to give zero stars?

This restaurant has been here in Bristol for a while now, and I have noticed the improvement in the food and in the service given.

I believe they have used their customer complaints and compliments and have fully overcome their past mistake. In the past I agree there has been some bad service that makes me think "This is a bunch of sad, miserable waitresses.".

But to be frankly honest to everyone who want to visit this restaurant. Oriental Buffet Restaurant has changed because they have learnt from their mistake.

I don't know the owner of this restaurant like the other reviewers, I don't even live near Oriental buffet restaurant. I live in Chippenham, therefore I don't go there often, but i just want to let everyone know that.

You cant judge a restaurant by going there once. Give it a chance for a change. Maybe if you gave it another chance you might see the difference in the changes they had made.

I'm not saying this just for Oriental buffet restaurant but for all the other restaurants out there.

My opinion about this restaurant is excellent, the food is outstanding and the waitresses are shockingly pleasant. I think I'll come to this restaurant more often.

Maybe next time when I go there I'll see something new. When I get the chance to go to Bristol I'll definitely will be saving a space to eat at this restaurant. I'll be looking forward to it. Amelia (Female 23)

We have eaten there on five or six occasions. We have found the waiters/waitresses to be delightful and the food is excellent.

Clean plates and finger bowl are provided at every turn without being asked for.

I would not recommend the lunchtime, which is cheap and cheerful but the evening buffet is excellent value for money.

We are greeted every time as valued customers and our friend who visited from London insisted on making a return visit last time she came.

There is a warning on the table settings about not wasting food but I think this is fair.

It would be easy to take more than one could eat but there is no limit to the amount of food you could consume or the number of times you could go back for more.

The facility of having the food you choose cooked especially to order ( the tempanaki) is excellent as you can mix and match what goes onto your plate.

I got a birthday party on last Friday, the food was amazing, especially the deep fire ice-cream and teppanyaki. The staff give me a surprise birthday cake after our desserts, I'm appreciated it. Thank you so much, we did enjoy it and definitely come back!

i agree the staff aren't great and kinda make me uncomfortable but i did enjoy the food so i probably will go back, not a place for special occasions as they do rush you out.

I agree. What a rude and miserable bunch of staff. Food ok, give credit wheres due, food is good.

Good food is not enough for me to return. I will not go back because of this rude and miserable lot.

I did'nt have time to finish my last bite before the plate was taken from me. I want a good time when I spend my hard earned money on a night out.

You took my money and did'nt even say thankyou, and you had the nerve to complain that I didnt leave a tip.

Well, I will give you a TIP now, Smile and be polite or soon you will have no customers. I have told friends of your rudeness and who ever reads this will probably be put off from coming to your restaurant.

I certainly will not be returning.

Staff very rude and miserable. Wont be coming back. Food nice but ruined with this miserable lot.

when I go out, I want to have a good time, sorry, I just could'nt with this rude lot.

You won't get any more of my money thats for sure. I have found the Orientals to be friendly, why are this lot so different ?.

And why remove my plates so fast. SMILE, SMILE and say THANKYOU and PLEASE.

Had a meal here on the 20th march 2009. Food very nice and would normally return, BUT, the staff are very miserable and rude, in that case, will not be returning.

Nice food but the staff are miserable and very rude. We used to go quite often but the hospitality has gone down hill.
What is the rush to clear the plates? Then to be asked to add a tip!
