After visiting the Hippodrome on a Friday evening we went for a meal. The place was almost empty at 10.30pm which was not surprising since the food and service were appalling. After 50 minutes we were told they were closing and asked to leave. It was a miserable experience and it ruined the evening for both of us.
Lovely looking place which had an appealing menu. However the food was appalling and expensive for the quality. My monk fish tasted like reconstituted fish and my children pizzas were overly salty which made it unpalatable. The price though was unreasonable for the quality of the food served. Will never recommend sergio's to any of my friends. Total rip off!
Based on these reviews and the prices at Sergio's, I was expecting a lot more. I had the Duck(16.95), and it was tasty, although the orange part of the sauce I think was limited to just a slice of orange on the side. The very small accompanying potatoes and vegetables were bland, and the potatoes were overcooked. I think things have changed since the Bristol review was written as I fail to see how t-shirts are formal, and the servers looked more fit for a diner than for a quality restaurant.
As for their service, I think they were banking on the automatic addition of 10% s/c to the bill to get their tip as opposed to actually earning it. We had been there for about 20 minutes before we were offered drinks, and had to flag the waiter down for dessert menus and the bill despite having been finished for a while. Only one in our group tried a dessert as we felt they were over priced. The only dessert made in house is the tiramisu, but my friend tried the fig and cointreau cheesecake. It was a rather small slice, and such poor quality that it had to be sent back - a first ever for my friend. The only glimpse of any quality was at the start when the waiter offered to take our coats. At the end of the night, I had to chase after a server to ask for it back, at which point I was told where to find it and had to fetch it myself. I won't be going back to Sergio's, nor would I recommend it to anyone.
After a wonderful afternoon at the Bristol Hippodrome watching We Will Rock You us (a family of five from 9 to 49years) stumbled across Sergio`s when walking back to the car park.
What a treat. Just 5.30 p.m. we were treated wonderfully and as for the food - WOW! All eating very differently - pasta, lamb and pizza (not forgetting the desserts) you ended a wonderful day out in Bristol truely magnificently. Many thanks.
My boyfriend took me here on our second date and it worked 5 years on we are still together. Very romantic restaurant and the snails are lovely!
