Went this evening to the Mexican kitchen. I had read good reviews about it in Clifton Life magazine and on this site. Reading Clifton Life, I was under the impression it was a restaurant with takeaway, but upon arriving realised it was a "fast food takeaway" with seating! I ordered a Beef Taco while my husband ordered a Beef Burrito and as they were preparing in front of us, we realised that the portions were not going to be filling. I had 2 tacos which were about 15cm in diameter each, consisted of 6 pinto beans, 6 small hunks of beef, a small serving of refried bean yoghurt and mild salsa for £5.30. My husband's was more fully loaded though, but in fear of leaving hungry, ordered some tortilla chips and salsa. To be fair, the taste was great, if not a bit on the cool side (probably because everything is stored in metal containers under a heater). I would say The Mexican Kitchen is great for passing lunch trade, but not for an evening out (maybe a bit naive of myself to realise that this is nothing more than a British equivelent of Taco Bell)! I have no doubt that the taste and quality of meat was great, but more than anything, the prices need to be lowered or the portion sizes increased.

This place is fantastic. The owner is so proud of his food and it is obvious why - it is delicious. The food is prepared in front of you, it is fast and friendly service and great value. Highly recomended.

I am from the us, and have been waiting for a good mexican restaurant to come to Bristol. I had to go as far as Oxford and London to get a good Burritto. Well, I do not have to go far anymore! The Mexican Kitchen is big, new, is centrally located, and has quick service. The food is excellent too! It is so good I have been back several times. Can't give enough praises.

Always been a lover of spicy food - the burrito was lovely, and with options of added hot sauced meant I could certainly have it hot! So many options, made right in front of you, and tasted fantastic! Good value for money, but once they introduce some sort of student discount/student meal deal it will be 5*s - so it can compete with places like subway! Recommend everyone to try it and you wil HAVE to go back...

Simply amazing and fantastic value for money. I needed a quick lunch and these guys really delivered, I had my home made burrito in under a minute, which was delicious. I'm going back for dinner soon so that I can, guilt free, have a beer with my next meal, I might try the fajita.

Well done, this is just what Bristol has been waiting for!
