yes, a remarkable film in every respect - the sort of cinematography that redeems british film making in its inventiveness and ability to 'see' the landscape rather than just point the camera at it....

saw this as a premiere showing in uk at hull's arts cinema, hull screen, last night; the film stayed with me and still does. i have rarely seen such impressive acting in both young and old in british films. perahaps all the better that they were not 'known faces' or particularly pretty - just ordinary people living out ordinary and dull lives in an increasingly sterile society which offers little except identikit housing (in the midst of beautiful countryside), play station games and - drugs.

i found the agoraphobic girl particularly moving; her restrained, and yet intense performance was outstanding.
