This film is worth seeing solely on the basis of Frank Langella's hypnotic performance. He exudes charm and charasma whenever he's on screen, which is not the image I expected to see of Nixon. In fact, the film is a good deal more sympathetic towards Nixon than I was expecting - not to his actions, but to the man himself, to the broke, lonely person he became. Michael Sheen is inevitably outshone throughout, but he does a fine job, even if he does come across as more of a Tony Blair than a David Frost at times. The film itself deals more with the story around the interview, than with the interview itself, which is an understand decision - if you want the interview, then you can watch the real thing. But I came out thinking a bit short-changed, with the denouement feeling a bit too easy.

As Nixon repeatedly gets the better of Frost, is Frost genuinely outgunned or just biding his time? I like the way the film leaves it open for you to decide.
And of course I admire the magnificent acting.

I took my boyfriend to see this which was probably a mistake as it's not really a date film! I think he fell asleep. But I really liked it :)
