SkateBristol Sponsored Skate
When
3rd May 2009
Where
Bristol - Bath
Fancy whizzing through the countryside on a pair of rollerblades? Recruits are needed for the SkateBristol sponsored skate which is taking place between Bristol and Bath.
Open To AllThe SkateBristol sponsored skate is raising money for the Menigitis Research Foundation. To raise as much money as possible, the event is open to anyone, no matter what level they're at. However, the aim is to get there within two and a half hours, so you'd best get your skates on...
Smooth SkatingThe route is 13 miles long, but the organisers promise it's not as punishing as it sounds. For starters, you'll be travelling along the recently renovated cycle track out of Temple Meads and into the countryside. This track has recently been resurfaced and the smooth tarmac will make the miles whizz past.
CharityIf you don't have the correct equipment, that's not a problem either. SkateBristol are not only providing equipment hire, such as skate and protective pads, but they're also offering tips on technique and lessons for anyone who wants to polish their skills before taking part in the SkateBristol sponsored skate. It's the perfect way to get the family involved in exercise as well as raise funds for a very worthy cause.
Crash CourseSkateBristol, which runs regular skating lessons, is hosting several crash courses in the weeks before the SkateBristol sponsored skate to ensure you're rolling smoothly to the finish line. There's also a prize for the top fundraiser. All proceeds go to help the Meningitis Research Foundation which funds research into meningitis and septicaemia as well as raising awareness and supporting those families affected.
The SkateBristol sponsored skate takes place at Sunday 3rd May 2009. It sets off at 10am at Bristol Temple Meads. For more information, or to download a sponsor form, click on the link below.SkateBristol Official Site
