Overall it was not an enjoyable experience and we would not recommend. Bad atmosphere, bad service, ok food, certainly not worth the cost. We had a Living Social voucher for a 3 course meal for 2. I suspect it was due to the voucher (as previous reviewers have confirmed) that we were made to feel unimportant, like second class citizens. Atmosphere: We were stuffed upstairs in a soulless/windowless room, next to the open back door which looked out to a dirty yard and the bins. Not a great start! This was made worse by the fact that they very clearly had space downstairs which was not offered to us. Food: The food itself was reasonably nice, very small portions, but about worth the price we paid - certainly not worth the supposed original price! Service: The service was slow and there was seldom any presence upstairs, so if we wanted something we would have to go and ask. We were not asked if we were enjoying the food or if we wanted any drinks. In fact we were not even given a drinks menu. When I did manage to ask for another drink, it never came! The final insult came when we finally got the bill. Having already bought the voucher we were expecting to be charged for only a few extra sides. However, they had the nerve to add service to the bill against the supposed original cost of the meal (twice that of the voucher). Needless to say we left a very minimal tip.
A big dissappointment!
We purchased a 5 course taster menu via living social. On arrival, the table was by the door, ambience poor, decor filthy and staff surly. The food wasn't an interesting taster menu but a poor attempt at a 5 course meal showing little originality and poor presentation. I spent half the night on the loo and interestingly we met another couple we knew doing the same deal and subsequently discovered that one of them also came down with an upset stomach. The restaurant carries a health warning and should definitely to be avoided.
We had the 8 course taster meal from groupon, the food was great but we waited around 15 minutes between each tiny course- even for the lemon sorbet! The service was very amateur, some friendly staff and some who didn't want to be there. We had at least 5 different staff serve us which we didn't find very professional or attentive.
It's a shame we had to wait so long as the food was well cooked and well flavoured. The staff seem to need more training and to be managed properly rather than stand about chatting. All in all an average meal out.
DO not go!!!When booked online and confirmed that does not mean they actually have a table for you.We arrived after getting taxis to Kingsdown to find that our christmas Night out was ruined. they did not have a table for us even though we had a written confirmed booking.i am amazed that they could not do anything for us- there is nothing in the Kingsdown area so ended up having to pay out for yet another taxi to whiteladies Road. Not what we wanted for a special night out for christmas.the worst part is that they said they would ring the next day- they could not be bothered.- I popped a letter in through there door- they could not be bothered!!Completely disinterested in the fact they spoiled our evening- it cost us lots of money for taxis.Would not recommend their customer care at all.
