The Pizza Huts, they are a’changin.
At least that’s what we’re hearing, anyway. It seems that one of the most common pizza chains, Pizza Hut, is set to turn in its pizza moniker for a new pasta-based name. Could it be that the new healthy eating trend is so huge that it’s got the more than 40-year-old chain ditching the melted cheese for more calorie-friendly dishes? Is this just a silly little trick meant to confuse and dismay tourists? Or perhaps they have a brand new pasta menu to promote? Hmm…
There are eight new pasta dishes on their menu compared to their 15 pizzas (of course, that doesn’t include the create your own varieties) but will recipes such as meatball tagliatelle, salmon and pasta bake and arrabiata sway the hearts, minds and stomachs of pizza lovers everywhere?
According to a poll on the Pasta Hut website, at the moment 62% of diners are hankering after the Pizza Hut days of yore, whilst 38% agree that Pasta Hut is the wave of the future.
Whilst the company says that the name will be changed for a trail period at about 30 restaurants and then switched back, we’re not so sure the whole pasta craze is going to take off for the world’s largest pizza restaurant company.
First Pizza Hut, now Pasta Hut – which one will you ring?
