Ive been to Java a few times, and have thoroughly enjoyed myself on every occasion! Great atmosphere, lovely staff and great music! Easily accessible as its in the centre of town! Open until late! Real cocktails which you don't find in many places! A great place if you want to meet lovely people and have a great night Will defiantly return! :)

Had an amazing VIP night in Java with the girls over the Bank Holiday weekend. Totally reccommend you check it out if you haven't done in a while!

We were shown straight to our table by a really friendly guy and totally given the VIP treatment, our table hostess looked after us amazingly well and we even had a box of chocolates on our table as a special touch!!

Drinks were reasonably priced which is always a bonus in a club! Music was great and we were soon hitting the dancefloor. Not too crowded so we could actually dance and never waited long at the bar to get served.

Seriously, check this place out as you wont be dissapointed! I'm busy planning my return :-)

Absolutely shit! Was meant to do cocktail making but then went down the pan! So was then promised VIP on entry for one of the girls 21st... As we had already paid deposit. There was apparently a booth made for us with balloons and party bag. Paid £5 entry to find out that we couldn't have VIP as they are like £250!! (So why say we could) Abby the event manager was very rude!! There was no atmosphere there and the prices were terrible! Completely ruined one of the girls 21st... I would strongly advise anyone NOT to go!

Here at Java we offer very professional cocktail master classes however in order to execute these in a successful manor we need to devote a sufficient amount of time for each.
Unfortunately, In this case it was impossible for the class to take place due to the party being nearly one hour late therefore due to the cancellation of this booking the complimentary VIP package was now sadly void. A sincere apology was made to the group and the deposit kindly refunded by myself so they could enjoy the remainder of their evening. The service shown by all members of staff was professional and sympathetic to their situation. Abbey Lewis, Events Manager.

Abbey you were on speaker when we phoned and there were a number of us that heard you promise us VIP as we had payed a deposite. You described and told us there were balloons around the table and party bags. We turned up to none of that and your attitude stunk! Dont make me out a liar when you know full well what happened.

One word to describe Java Bar - amazing. The staff are very friendly and helpful!. I was looking for somewhere to go for my Birthday in May, someone told me that java had a new refurbishment recently at the time. I had suspicions, as I had heard a few things about the place before it had a refurb. I thought I should check it out and see for myself how it had changed. So I booked a table in their vip room. I was greeted at the door by a friendly gentleman - who directed me into a Que where I would be 'que jumped' as I had booked a table (i must say, I felt very important!). He then explained to pay for my table at the door. (again, very friendly lady explaining what I needed to pay, and kindly explained the deal again to me) I was then greeted by a hostess, who took me and my friends to my private table in a beautiful vip room. (the atmosphere and the glamorous appearance of the room was outstanding). The hostess then brought me a bottle of Smirnoff Vodka, and Bubbly - with all the glasses needed, and my choice of mixers, very quickly, and professionally. I was very impressed. After enjoying my vip treatment and listening to the music, the dj really got me and girls up on the dance floor! Brilliant music. Me and my friends made our way to the dance floor (clean, tidy - and very funky lights on the dance floor, with a beautiful glitter dome ceiling! And enjoyed the rest of the night on the dance floor where us girls belong :d. The people/customers in there were also very kind! No trouble, everyone there to have good time (really pretty women! And some seriously handsome men!)the toilets were clean, fresh (no horrible smells). Was also a lady in there who had hair spray, perfumes, brushes etc! I was very excited about this haha! (was having a bad hair day!)Java Bar has definitely changed from what I heard of it. Amazing night! Have been there every Saturday since! And have recently gone to there new Fridays every week! Officially my favo

Since JAVA was rennovated last year the place has made such a huge improvement! I've been every week for about 5 weeks on Fridays and Saturday's and they sure know how to put on a good night! The dance floor is clean and glamorous, drinks prices are very reasonable and the VIP packages are not only good value but the venue is second to none!

10/10, check it out!

Apparently this bar has had a refurbishment, everything looks the same to me apart from some Wetherspoon type chairs and tables.

I went in this Saturday with cocktail drinking friends and the claim of Bristols best cocktails is not true. The staff on the bars did not know the products, I asked for Gimlet cocktail and was met with a confused face.

The toilets were not clean and no toilet roll provided. For the price of the entry and drinks I was disappointed. We won't be going back, Try the rummer or Severn Shed for real drinks and service

All people should boycott this club as they have a system of bullying young vulnerable girls. Some girls get ejected for no reason or little reason, like ‘sitting on the speakers’. If you don’t want people sitting on the speakers then put a sign up or don’t have the place so overcrowded that no one can go anywhere? This may be a way of making more money as the more people they eject the more money they make as they let people in the door…or are they profiling?

My friend went there with mates for her birthday and was ejected for 'sitting on the speaker'.She should have been asked not to, and if she didn't listen then ok. She is the loveliest quiet person you could know and her birthday was ruined....maybe it was because she doesn't drink and they weren't making enough money from her

I heard Java had changed too and popped down after work to try out the new out of office club.... Was pleasantly surprising to find some fantastic drink offers including 2-4-1 cocktails which used premium spirits with generous measures and served by a very charming barman! I have to say the best gin bramble I have drunk in Bristol.... I had heard bad things about Java in the past but felt like I had to put in a review to let people know that it has changed and now produces some amazing drinks at reasonable prices (VERY GOOD prices for the out of office club 5pm-8pm) with attention to detail service - Perfect!

Since reopening Java is completely different! Please ignore the old reviews and give Java Bar a chance. The interior is beautiful, they have a very extensive range of beers, spirits and make amazing cocktails! No-one would go away unhappy, so I encourage anyone to come back to the new Java! There's a lot of noise about the new Saturday night, sounds awesome!

Total rubbish. Total fake. TOTAL CHAV.I went there one saturday evening, door staff were ok, I heard they were rude, but credit where it's due they were ok-ish.

Bar men were a waste of time, took around 10 mins preparing a Bacardi and coke, and were very easily distracted.

Got inside absolutely crammed with chavs, Not wearing caps anything like that, just unpolished girls who thought they are celebs.

Men who were wearing lipgloss and handing drinks through me and my friends while we were getting served.

Men covered in fake tan with total snobbish attitudes. Bristol City football players dressed in black suits, looked like they've came from a funeral, didn't even know who they were until my friend pointed it out, expecting some kind of recognition.

Is a totally awful place, Everybody there is pretending they're something they're not, the decor looks a bit tatty and you will probably be looked down upon by bitchy men, even though you spot their shoes are from new look, while you're wearing 3K DIOR!!

Haha!! Definite place to avoid. Grab a taxi and visit DK, on whiteladies. Similar but a much better place.

DEFINATE PLACE TO BECame here with a few boys a few times and the caliber of people are amazing. Good decor and polite staff...Its a definite VIP/ to be seen venue so you need to look the part o get in, but with the right approach we all got in quickly. The door men are on the ball so if you act up at the door they wont let you in so make sure you look the part and come across well presentedDrink prices are average/ expected like most bars in Bristol, but the volumes on alcohol seems stronger here for some reason ;)The front Bar is where it all starts, then the main club is open once its busy.. the room is huge and on request you can book Corner tables for party groups. take advantage as spare seating is filled in the main room quickly by large groups, mainly girls but we weren't complaining ;)There's also a VIP room/ members lounge area which is completely covered up so privacy is good and it seems impossible to get in unless you know the right people. Advise to contact bar before hand to arrange a deal if your a spender and want the VIP treatment.Best day to go are Saturday night.. it gets really busy quickly but the Music is top. like rnb, funky house and real old school music. usually there till 3am so its finished quite late.If your expectations are high with glamorous would definitely make this your first stop

I have been Java 3 times & on each occasion I have had problems from the door men.

The 1st time I went to Java, I went to the door on my own as my friends were waiting for me in the car.

I was dressed accordingly; dress, high heels & I was sober. I asked one of the door men how much it was, whether it was members only etc, he looked me up & down & rudly said 'it was not members but it depends whether you look stush or not' he then turned away.

I asked him if I could get in then, he said 'it depends who you are with' & I replied girls.

He then said 'it depends what they are wearing' & another door man interuppted & said 'if they are wearing burberry or anything like that they cannot come in'.

I said they were not & asked him if we can get in then & he said 'no'.The 2nd time I went there, I was with 1 friend again both sober.

It was the same doorman who seen us as we got to the front of the que. He had the same arrogant, rude attitude as the previous time & jumped to saying 'if you have not got ID you are not coming in'.

My friend & I are both 29. I had ID but my friend didnt. He did not want to see my ID & said 'well if your friend hasnt you cannot come in'.

In the end we got in as a lady I knew happened to come outside who was helping promote the night & she apologised for his behaviour.

The 3rd time I went there I was with 2 of my friends. Again the door men had bad attidues & asked how old I was & I replied 29.

He then asked my friend but before she could answer another door man approached & shook is head & said we could not come in. I do not understand why.

We have never acted inappropriately or in a drunken manner when we have been to Java we have always been smartly dressed there is absoutley no reason why my friends & I had to be treated badly by the doormen.

FINALLY...A Bar with high standards. Really plush appearance and great bar staff. Saturdays nights are the busiest so arrive early. Strict dresscode and age allowance as well so being well presented to dorr staff can help.. plus its makes the night much better for people out to actually have a good time. Top range of music and a cool lighting dance floor. Gets a lot of attention from celebrities visiting bristol and is perfect for people who like the VIP/members life...

I had a fantastic time in the Club, especially in the members lounge!
The venue is streets ahead of any other members lounges in and around the area.
Thanks for my complimentary bottle of Champagne for my Birthday Java!

never been anywhere like it! I hated it....everyone trying to be something there aren't...i nipped outside for a quick cig and the door staff wouldn't let me back in - I didn't have my coat or my bag so no way of getting home! he simply said you're too drunk so you not coming in! I asked to be escorted to my belongings and he said no.. like what the hell?? being a woman how was i to get home? I AGREE A PLACE TO BE AVOIDED(OBNOXIOUS DOORMAN)I managed to sneak back for a few more..I'm looking to take this further and see what i can do - surely thats not allowed?
