I agree with the positive reviews of the Cassia and strongly disagree with the one negative review. We have eaten at the Cassia on numerous occasions, and had take-away meals too, and have never left feeling hungry. We have sampled many of the dishes on the menu including veggie ones, chicken and lamb and have enjoyed all of them. The staff are unfailingly courteous and helpful. The service is not the quickest but this is clearly because all is cooked fresh and to order. As a couple we eat out regularly and in different restaurants around the country, including 'celebrity ' type establishments, so our standards and expectations are high. If you want a good quality, reasonably priced Indian meal then I would recommend the Cassia without hesitation.
Following reading the negative report below I visited Cassia again last night with my wife and enjoyed yet another fabulous meal. The service was once again first class and upon arrival we were shown to our table and immediately asked if we required drinks. These arrived promptly and we placed our order which arrived within reasonable time considering the freshness of the meal. We both had a main course and a shared side dish along with a portion of rice each and a shared nan bread. We started with papadoms and pickles as we find starters too much with the generous main courses. The bill for the meal along with two drinks each came to £44 and we were further offered a drink each on the house. When settling the bill we discovered that our loyalty card was full which entitled us to a free bottle of wine which we took home with us.
Would I recommend this restaurant to others? Definitely.
I have just eaten in Cassia Indian Restaurant and left hungry, most Indian restaurants I have been too,and that would number in the hundreds all over the world will give you as part of the meal a portion of poppadom's and dips to go with them free of charge, this did not happen at Cassia,it seems you have to order them which we were not aware of and found strange, starters came next chicken tikka and shami kebab both were on the small side, but we forgave this as they tasted good,so we said we would fill up on the main course, how disappointed we were as the two lamb dishes we had had 6 or 7 small pieces of chewy lamb in them, sauce was plentiful to hide the lack of meat and the side orders were small too with lack of meat in the kema nan and a small portion of pilau rice, first time I ever left an Indian restaurant hungry, wont be going back and would recommend that if you are hungry go else where. We did bring this matter to the attention of the staff in the middle of the meal but alas no more meat was given to us. 10% discount was given, not the point would have preferred a good meal instead.
I have only once eaten in Cassia for a meal but have taken away hundreds of times (no joke), there are various different dishes of different spice levels, sweetnesses etc. Every curry I have eaten I have enjoyed thoroughly they are rich and full of flavour and every different curry is very unique in flavour but authentic. The service is always great and quick and if you've ordered a takeaway and they are running late they will usually offer you a half pint( although they are rarely running behind).
The restaurant isn't very big and spacious but I think the food speaks for itself. You can order meat or vegetables and is always good quality, more often than not I find vegetarian food at Indian restaurants slightly bland or not of such a quality of the meet but here is great. The other guy who left a message told of the chilli chicken etc, the clues in the name and maybe he should have been slightly smarter making his choice.
Pricing is average for an indian especially due to the quality, the best of three Indians in Patchway, closely followed by Basmati also good but Cassia still a firm favourite. The other one is just a takeaway and is rubbish mainly marketed at drunks walking home and fancying a cheap curry with no senses or understanding of the taste.
If you try their garlic chilli chicken get ready for a ring of fire!
