Lizard Lounge is a party club which plays cheesy chart tunes, serves up some crazy shots and has a permanently rammed dancefloor. Unsurprisingly, it's also a student stronghold. The VenueSituated in a prime spot on the Triangle, and therefore a perfect post-bar club, Lizard is busy every night of the week, especially during university term time.
Be prepared to face a bit of a queue, especially at the weekend. Once you've made your way to the front you then head downstairs to the inner sanctum of Lizard Lounge.
The club is split into two adjoining rooms and has three separate bar areas, plus a reasonably sized dancefloor and bags of seating space, including sofas which seem like heaven after a couple of hours of boogieing.
The PeopleLizard Lounge attracts the student crowd, which contributes to its consistent feel-good atmosphere. It's one of those clubs to which you can't help but return, so you'll probably come to recognise those Lizard Lounge regulars who frequent it on a regular basis.
The MusicThe Baywatch theme song and Queen's Don't Stop Me Now are always featured, as well as chart hits, dance tunes and a bit of indie thrown in for good measure.
The DJs here are always happy to take requests and there's always plenty of whooping for the shout outs. Once you hit the dancefloor, it is always difficult to tear yourself away as the cheese just keeps on coming.
The DrinkIf you want to fit in with the Lizard Lounge crew, get yourself a jug of cocktail and a straw. Long Island Ice Tea and Kiwi Coolers are among the favourites. You'll also witness plenty of Slippery Nipple and Brain Damage action from those who can and those who most definitely cannot handle their shots.
The Last WordLizard Lounge isn't the coolest, the biggest, or the club with the best decor, but it's guaranteed fun if you like your pop cheesy and your drinks in jugs. And it's almost guaranteed your night will end with the lights coming up as you realise that four hours just whizzed past and you loved every second.
