I use the Masons regularly for the breakfasts. The food is always hot and fresh but they are a little mean with the portion sizes but hey it's cheaper than most other pubs in the area. Just one small issue is the fact that the staff NEVER say hello, smile or thank-you. Maybe some staff training is needed here. I have had the Carvery several times and have always found it to be well cooked and hot, but why oh why do they insist on serving cauliflower cheese with a roast dinner......stick to meat and veg with gravy I say....Above all good value for money but lacking in a welcoming atmosphere. (Mostly staffed by teenagers it would seem).

live in Almondsbury and was really eager to try my local carvery, especially as they were offering a half price carvey......took my fiance and daughter expecting a pleasant evening, I arrived and bought carvery meals but couldnt find a spare table, eventually a free table came up and we stood in the queue...by the time it was our turn to be served there was a nice fresh cooked joint of beef and some dried up scraps from the last joint...i asked the chef for the juicy meat and he said he couldnt do it....i had to have the dried up rubbish first.....hey whos paying i said? he huffed n puffed and gave me a mixture of dryed up beef and a little bit of the freshly cooked beef...........

i really felt like throwing it at him because his attitude was appauling! but i was hungry and the queue was long, there was no cauliflower or roast potatoes and was told i would have to wait 5 mins.....10 mins later the veg arrived but the rest of my dinner was cold. my daughter ordered a desert and after an hour it still hadnt arrived! i politely asked a waitress if she knew what happened to our dessert and she rudely said ' you'll just have to wait, we are busy' ....when it finally arrived she slammed it down on the table and glared at my 7 year old daughter.......she cried and thought she had been naughty........we left immedietly! this carvery is the price it is, because thats all it is worth paying!

Have just arrived home from dining at the recently re-furbished Masons Arms. Have been a regular there, and wondered why they were re-vamping to a Carvery. Well, all I could say, is, that the pub was absolutely packed to capacity. Not noisy, staff welcoming, and after we found a seat, we joined a very long queue, to fetch our dinner. The food smelt delicious, whilst waiting, and then we found the portions VERY generous, the vegetables were cooked beautifully, and everything tasted as good as it looked. WE were quite amazed at the price, and hope that this will stay at this level for a while, and is not a gimmick to get the clientele in. #We couldn,t fault anything at all, and will go there more often, and will definitely take our visitors there, and also recommend it to all we know, that like to dine out. Thank you to all the staff, and especially to the Chefs. Mr and Mrs.S.James.

did a 50 mile round trip to eat here, bar service excellent, food quality and presentation was worst I have had for 30 + yrs in pub visits and trade. over cooked pasta, under cooked bison burger, sent that back and didn`t bother with replacement. over priced for quantity and quality, Manager didn`t appear interested paid the bil and left. Would never recommend.

We called in to The Masons this sunday 24/08/09 at about 5:30pmon our way home to save us cooking. We have often eaten there in the past since the refurb. At first the food was excellent but three times of late we have had terrible food, the first time there was a hair in the salad which went back and cancelled the meal next visit we ordered Pata as a starter which came warm after being defrosted, that was disgusting and unedible and we lost out on that meal, today I ordered the steak pie in a crusty cheese pastry, when it arrived it was soggy pastry and on opening it it was still frozen, the meal wnet back with a complaint, my husband went on to eat his meal and he finished with no sight of my meal returning at this point I said there was no way I would eat now andasked for a refund which was given after being told the food was now ready, ther was no apology offered. There were only a few other people eating two of which got up and left saying they would never return and we feel the same.. What a great shame as on reopening it was so promising.
