Terrible service - the worst I have experienced anywhere. Everything that the waitress could have did wrong she did it! - not bringing us enough glasses, taking ages to bring the pimms and then turning up with 1 glass when we'd asked for a pitcher. Not giving us cutlery until after our meals had arrived. Brought me the wrong meal, so i had to wait for the one i'd asked for. Didnt check back if our meals were ok. When the meals arrived, a gherkin had fallen onto a different plate, she then picked it off the plate with her fingers and put it on to the correct one whilst outplates were in front of us! we chose not to pay the service charge, and she came back out to us demanding that we had not paid enough!! when it was clearly optional.
having said that, the food was nice. a few pounds extra for what you get than what you would pay anywhere else. but a good location. we chose there because we wanted to sit outside on a sunny day, which was nice.

I was treated to A champagne 'mothers day treat' on Saturday 2nd april, by my daughter. Lovely atmosphere, the pianist was playing but the service was slow. The food And champagne was very good value And we both enjoyed it. My only complaint was that it was for two people!4 triangle Sandwiches2 Scones With jam & double cream {not clotted}3 slices of cake Lemon drizzle, chocolate tort & Fruit cake, {yes 3 not 4} to share. How bazaar! But worth it. Brown's please take note. Mrs Saunders

Really lovely interior and always great atmosphere. However I do think the price of the food is a little on the steep side compared to the quality. I enjoyed their afternoon tea for two and thought that was a fair price for what you got. But I have since had their fish and chips and a more fancy option and both were simply OK.

I think you go to Browns more for the atmosphere but fine dining is found elsewhere...

Their cocktail menu is very extensive but again on the expensive side.

Went their for my daughters 21st, service was slow, we were constantly asking when the next course would arrive. Found the seating to be very uncomfortable.

We choose the Friends of Browns menu, most of us had Steak, all the steaks were on the tough side, we had to send one back as it was so tough it could not be eaten - although when we complained the steak was replaced and we were given a £10 reduction to the bill which I feel was fair.

We had to ask for steak knifes, to cut the steak, which I feel should have been placed on the table beforehand, well we were having steak!

The red wine that was included in the offer we took home and used it for cooking!

The restaurant was extremely busy.

I for one would not go there again.

Bustling is the best way to describe Browns.Rarely known to be a quiet option, it's reliably filled with people who either work or live locally.

whether you fancy a drink to kick the start the evening or perhaps a meal for two in a sombre enough setting that allows you to enjoy the ivories been tinkled while you munch on some chips.

There's a varied enough menu to satisfy most tastes although certain dishes can be hit and miss...fish and chips is a must try! They also have a very popular roast menu on a Sunday which is clearly a common choice with the family contingent.

Prices vary enough to allow you to possibly squeeze in that extra glass of wine or perhaps a sticky toffee pudding to fill an empty gap!

Possibly lacking in space in the bar area, although outside does fill up in the summer months, so much so you almost can't get up the steps...and perhaps a greater range of bar food to share would be an option too.

All in all a definite reliable for any occasion!
