Came to Bristol recently to visit some friends, and had to visit my old stomping grounds. I grew up in Somerset and remember the Queen Shilling fondly. Back then it was the main destination for a gay night out in Bristol. In recent years, though it had become somewhat run down, and had lost its edge somewhat. Now,the bar has been recently renovated and look great, it is clean (both the loos and the bar) and the staff are sooo friendly. Music was also just up my street. They claim to be no attitude and I think they got that part right as well. We visited a few other bars in the area and were not a patch on the Shilling. The QS has been given a new lease of life. Do visit if your in the area, it is the top gay night out in the south west.
