We used to come here very frequently but when it changed to an Indian, avoided like the plague. However, having recently been refurbished and reverted back to a carvery, headed out to try and we weren't disappointed. Will definitely be back.
Much improved gastropub.
The staff are the best of the 3 village pubs.
Black Rock steak where you cook it yourself to your own liking is excellent. The quality is superb. We eat there at least once a week and it's getting more and more popular as the weeks go by.
Oh, and if you have a hangover (not that I ever do), I know that the breakfasts are a great cure and serve fab coffee all at a reasonable price. Try it, you won't be disappointed!
Fleur De Lys was recently refurbished to a very high standard. It has undergone a change of name - fleur de lis. The food is extremely good, offering breakfast, bar food, restaurant and carvery. They also offer the Black Rock Eating experience which is very popular. Inside and outside have been extensively renovated and has an exceptional outside eating area with ample free parking. Entertainment in on every Friday evening, offering traditional vocalists and several tribute acts. It is open from 9. Am for traditional english breakfast and food is available until 9. Pm. Well worth a visit
understand pub changing hands soon. Will be worth another visit
Took my mother for Sunday traditional lunch, which I thought to be rather good. However, the experience would have been so much better had the 'fleur' put on the heating. The fireplace had wood burning in it which made the room not only smokey and smell but also made ones clothes and hair smell. Food good. Ambience not so good.
Had a great Indian meal here last week - good value for money and a welcome change. The pub is still a country style pub with appropriate beers/ales and a good atmosphere and given that there are two other pubs with traditional menus and two social clubs in the village this kind of diversification can only help it stay in business!! It's also great that local people can partake of such a variety of food without having to get in their cars to get it!! Well done Fleur de Lys!
I have visited Fleur De Lys on many occasions and enjoyed its (TRADITIONAL COUNTRY INN FOOD!) However, I now here it is going INDIAN yet another Curry House! Great if you like a Curry, but I have tried them and personally hate them.I will now be looking elsewhere for a country pub with a decent carvery. It's a shame because the beer was good.At least the CHAVS should like it!
Been in here a couple of times and its a pleasant pub with friendly service which I think makes all the difference.
