This local pub, in the residential area of Redland, is a pleasant surprise with something for everyone.

The Venue
The outside seating is ample and sociable and although the outward views tend to be of the houses opposite, the atmosphere is next to none. Tailored for all weathers; there are several individually adjustable heaters for the winter and a remote controlled awning which caters for the occasional desire for shade in the summer.

The Atmosphere
Inside, the atmosphere is lively, with a busy bar area along with a seated section to the rear. It is somewhat confusing in the slightly more formal seating area as it is not immediately obvious as to whether this is indeed exclusively for eaters.

It soon becomes apparent that not everyone in this area is eating and it becomes rather buzzing at night. On the tables there’s champagne bottle reinvented as candle holders and a good selection of music plays in the background, which is just about heard above the busy drone of happy voices around the pub.

The Food
Upstairs leads to the restaurant which has a totally different feel altogether than the wonderful atmosphere of downstairs. The decor is classic dining room style, which is chic and fits with the style of the food perfectly.

However you cannot help but feel as though they would rather be among the vibrancy of the pub rather than the dull air of the restaurant. The quality of the food itself is unquestionable, the menu is not only alluring but often intriguing, with friendly staff delighted to decipher.

The Drink
The wine list at The Kensington Arms is extensive and fairly reasonably priced, with a frequently changing cocktails board behind the bar. The Ales, although slightly over-priced for a local, are similarly wide-ranging and there is a vast selection of the all-time Bristol favourite, cider.

The Last Word
There certainly is something for everyone at The Kensington Arms and what with quiz nights, big screen TV’s, great food and friendly staff, Redland is very fortunate to have such a terrific local.
