I was working as the waiter that day and yes indeed we were facing a few problems. First of all let me apologise for your poor food quality and also for the unsatisfactory way in which your complaint was handled. An unusual set of circumstances had led to that particular couple of hours not being our finest.Due to circumstances out of our control, we faced staff shortages both in the kitchen and also with our waiting staff. Also, from around 1pm every guest on every table in the entire pub oredered food almost simultaneously at the bar. In my time at The Mall I can honestly say that we have not faced such a volume of orders descend on us at the same time. I know this is no excuse for sending out under or over cooked food but during those two hours we were unusually swamped. I admit that we should have handled your complaint more swiftly and again down to me being sidetracked I missed your situation. I would love it if you would call me at the pub to arrange you to come and taste our lovely food and excellent service at no charge.I apologise 100% for what was admittedly a poor experience and promise you that we are usually a million times more adept than we were during those bleak couple of hours last Sunday.I hope you do take me up on my offer of a totally free experience including all starters mains and desserts along with a complimentary bottle of wine or soft drinks for three.I do remember exactly who you were and so I hope that you call me to arrange the above. Well we took the manager up on his offer to retry The Mall and it's food last week.
I must say we got first class service and the food was extremely good. We had three different starters and mains and I can honestly say they were all excellent! All three of us chose the Pavlova as a dessert and it didn't disappoint!
We elected to visit on a Monday evening and so couldn't review the Sunday lunch again but after this experience maybe we will one day!
I wish Rich, the manager and Ross, the assistant manager good luck in the future as they are both very nice chaps too!
