Bristol and surrounding areas
Monster mash-ups and devilish discos are some of the events taking place this Halloween at Bristol clubs. Whether you're a wizard, warlock, werewolf or the Grim Reaper himself, something here will keep you dancing till witching hour.
Red Or Dead
You'd be hard-pushed to find an event that isn't based on Halloween at Bristol clubs this year. Just about all the clubs are hosting some sort of spooky shindig and themes are varied. At the Buddha Lounge there's a Red Devil Party with BBC Radio's 1Xtra DJ Ronnie Herel. As well as his devilish DJ skills the club is hosting a red-themed Halloween with bewitching cocktails and shots. The party starts at 10am.
The Beautiful and The Damned
For some equally naughty high-jinx for Halloween at Bristol clubs head to Start The Bus where you'll find the Be More Burlesque Halloween Spooktacular. There'll be Burlesque Beauties, a dress-up box and two £125 goody bags from American Apparel for the best dressed ghoul, ghost or witch. The party runs from 8pm - 3am and admission is £2 - £4.
Retro Horror
At Shake, Rattle and Bowl, the regular club night at The Lanes, there's a special 50s-style Monster Mash. Decor goes spooky-retro with a black and orange theme plus lots of balloons and cobwebs! El Nino from London's Lady Luck Club will be DJing for the evening and is promising to play scary sounding freakout, surfy, bluesy tunes from his old vinyl collection. Dressing up is encouraged and they may even host a 'best ghost' competition. The party runs from 7pm - 3am and admission is £5.
Hot Tub Swamp
The gang at Amoeba know how to put on a party and for Halloween they're pulling out all the stops. The theme is Thriller: Undead Icons - so expect lots of Michael Jackson and Joker outfits. There'll be live jazz, a hot tub swamp in the garden and prizes for the best costumes. The party runs from 8pm - 1am and entry is free.
New Chills
It's oh-so new but the Big Chill will no doubt find a few cobwebs to decorate its new premises in Small Street. It's hosting I Spit On Your Rave Halloween party with music from Monsterpiece. There'll be professional make-up artists on hand to help you create a truly horrible look and there'll be a photographer to snap up those in the best costumes. And it is well worth making an effort as fancy dress competition will be judged by the directors of I Spit On Your Rave and the winner will receive tickets to the Big Chill festival 2010. Entry is free.
Halloween Hell
At the Bristol Bierkeller the Oompah Band will undergo a Transylvainian make-over for their Halloween Hell event. And instead of serving their usual litre steins of beer and cider you can order a litre of blood (or something like it!). As you'd expect, fancy dress is part of the fun and there'll be giveaways for the most blood-curdling costume.
Thriller
For Halloween celebrations at LAB the inspiration is the late Michael Jackson's Thriller. It'll be hosted by a mini Michael Jackson who'll be performing Billie Jean, Beat It, Bad and, of course, Thriller. There's also face painting, spooky decorations and a setlist filled with spine-chilling tunes. The party runs from 10pm - 4am and entry is £5.
Twisted
Tribe of Frog are hosting their usual Halloween events with a Hallaween Special. It's the regular line-up of psychedelia and electro, all served up with other-world trimmings to celebrate Halloween. The party runs from 10pm - 7am and entry is £10/£12. The Cooler is also hosting their regular Klub Klute, but with a spine-tingling twist and Platform 1 are putting on a Halloween Monster Mash. And, who'd have thought it, but ska and reggae are the soundtrack for the Halloween party at Area 81.
High Spirits
Flamingos are celebrating Halloween in true flamboyant style. Its fancy dress competition will be extremely competitive as there are some excellent giveaways and everyone who comes in costume gets £5 off their Drink The Bar Dry wristbands plus a free Halloween inspired cocktail.
One Foot In The Grave
If Halloween at Bristol clubs really is your idea of hell - all that fake blood and silly string - then you can opt for something a little more high-brow and still celebrate All Hallow's Eve in style. At the Cadbury House Hotel there's a Halloween Ball where the fancy dress is optional. It includes a three-course dinner plus a disco. Tickets cost £25.
Events for Halloween at Bristol clubs take place on 31st October 2009.
