Can't resist showboating on the pitch? Take part in the first Red Bull Street Style Bristol heats and show off your top tricks and you could be in with a chance of representing the country in the world final in Cape Town.
Easy As...
The rules for Red Bull Street Style are as easy as 3-2-1. The ability to pull off a crowd-pleasing performance isn't. In three minutes two players with one ball have to show off their control, creativity, style and co-ordination. To even stand a chance of impressing the judges of Red Bull Street Style, Bristol B-Boys and B-Girls will have be extremely physically fit, be able to dance with a dash of originality, have some cunning choreographic skills so they can show off their moves in just three minutes, oh, and be able to do all this at the same time as balancing a ball somewhere about their bodies. Easy-peasy.
One-on-One
The competition is one-on-one, and it's held on a special stage that's seven metres in diameter. Each player must alternate ball possession every 20 seconds and when they've got the ball they have to show off their tricks to the rhythm of music. The winner is voted by a jury who'll be assessing the competitor's ball control, creativity and their individual style.
Nam The Man
Competitors at the Red Bull Street Style Bristol heats will have to impress a judging panel made up of some of rather intimidating talent including freestyler Nam The Man. After the UK heats, only a select few will make it through to the national final which will be held in London on 21st November 2009.
Cape Town
If you don't think you have what it takes to compete, you can brush up on your freestyling with an open skills session which will be held just before the Red Bull Street Style Bristol heats. But if you're brave enough to have a go you could end up representing the UK in the world final in Cape Town. And if you make it you'll be competing with finalists from more than 50 countries for the title of World Street Styler. Last year's competition was won by Arnaud Sean Garnier and he'll be judging this year's final.
The Red Bull Street Style Bristol heats take place at Motion Skatepark at 5pm, 7th November 2009. The open skills session will be held at 1.30pm.
Both events are free to take part in and watch but you must register before taking part in the Street Styler heats. To register click on the link below.
